Today marks three years of loving coffee publicly and sharing my affection for it with people all around the world. This site and the support from everyone who reads it has driven me to continue learning about coffee and searching for anything coffee-related worth sharing. As the specialty coffee industry continues to grow and more people fall in love with it, the number of inspiring projects, products and companies grow too. I love watching the progression of the industry and having the opportunity to share some of the best people, places, and things in the world of coffee with others.
Since last year’s anniversary, DCILY has been to origin in Colombia, organized the Swedish AeroPress Championship, traveled to the SCAA Event in Portland and the World Baristas Championship in Vienna, filmed both the Nordic Barista Cup and Nordic Roasters Forum and helped a couple fantastic coffee companies re-brand (Workshop, G&B). Coffee Common, sadly came to an end, but has left more time for me to join with other organizations like the SCAA to help share even more knowledge.
As much as I love great coffee myself, I also enjoy helping other people discover how great it can be. I continue to do this because you continue coming back.
Thank you all. Love coffee, live well, give back & inspire others.

[UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who celebrated with us and bought some great DCILY merch. This promotion has come to an end, but the store is still stocked!.]
Two weeks ago I quietly rolled out the new DCILY merch store—and now with less than 2-weeks until Christmas and the store fully stocked, I thought I’d officially announce the grand opening with a bit of a sale.
In honor of DCILY’s 2-year anniversary, I’m offering 20% off on all apparel. Just use the code DCILY20 at the checkout. There’s just one catch: I’m not telling how long the sale will last—2 hours, 2 days, 2 weeks? If you’ve got gifts to buy, don’t miss out!

DCILY was treated to a nice surprise on its second anniversary from the makers of Flipboard. Thanks to the heads up from Sheena, who informed me that we’re featured alongside esteemed lifestyle publications like Curbed, Bon Appetit, Dwell & Gilt Taste.
If you aren’t familiar with Flipboard, it turns your favorite social and RSS feeds into a beautifully designed magazine on the iPad (and now the iPhone). It’s one of my favorite apps and changed the way I enjoy content on the internet.
If you already have it, add DCILY and enjoy!
In case you missed it on the runway in Bryant Park last week, I’m launching a new line of DCILY clothing. Since the sold-out success of the “No X in Espresso” shirt, I’ve had people requesting re-prints of that shirt and asking if I would ever put the “Enjoy Black Coffee” print on a shirt. I’m happy to finally answer yes to both.
I teamed up with Simon Ålander, who designed the amazing “Mr. Coffee” poster published back in May, to transform the “enjoy black coffee” phrase into something more appropriate for a shirt—he delivered in spades. Since it’s approaching fall and winter (for me at least), I thought it would also make a great hoodie, so I’m offering that as well. In the future, I plan to collaborate with more designers to offer new shirts, in different styles, to keep things fresh.
These will be printed and shipped from the USA on 50/50 organic cotton & recycled polyester tees. I’m still sourcing the perfect hoodie to ensure you won’t want to take it off until spring. Also, as always, 5% of DCILY sales are donated to Coffee Kids.

DCILY has collaborated with Simon from Coffee Made Me Do It, to bring you another awesome coffee shirt to add to your wardrobe this fall. Along with a reprint of the popular “No X in Espresso” shirt from earlier this summer, I’ll begin taking pre-orders at the end of the week for this latest design. Enjoy a sneak peek for now!
Now available for order.
DCILY Update: I’ve been having conversations with people in passing on Twitter recently, so I figured I would just do a quick post to announce some DCILY changes. The DCILY HQ will be upending itself from the coast of Maine and leaving the US of A (Happy 4th!). After traveling to the UK for Coffee Common next week, I will be traveling most of the summer in Europe before landing in Göteborg, Sweden.
I travel a lot, but I’ve never officially lived abroad and it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while. I don’t plan on changing much in terms of content, other than I won’t be talking about US roasters as much. I’m excited to have access to some of the great Swedish roasters like Da Matteo, Koppi, Drop, Johan & Nyström, Love—and discovering others along the way. I’ll also be a short train ride from Oslo & Tim Wendelboe.
In the meantime, I have some things I need to get rid of:
Behmor 1600 Coffee Roaster (Sold)
1lb capacity home roaster, with 5lbs green coffee included. Owned for 1 year. Used for less than a dozen roasts—cleaned after each one. More info at Behmor
Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp Electric Kettle (Sold)
1.7 liter kettle w/ temperature settings & 30 minute “keep warm” function. More info.
DCILY 10oz Coffee Mugs ($10 each)
I’ve got a number of these left. If you want these in bulk for a café or store, I will cut you a very good deal, just get in touch. See them here.
“No X in Espresso” Shirts/Stickers ($25/$1)
I still have a few of these left in various sizes. Last chance to get them for the time being. Will be looking into future distribution in the US. See them here.
Interested in any of the above, email me: dearcoffeeiloveyou[at]gmail.com. Deadline for shipping everything is this Thursday at noon!
The money raised from selling this stuff will help me buy more of the same (only more expensive and with funnier looking plugs) once I settle in Sweden. Thanks for the continued readership and support. Looking forward to bringing you more coffee love from new parts of the world.
This is going to be my last post of 2010 and I want to dedicate it to the talented baristas who make every visit to our local cafés an experience we cherish. Wether they’re hypnotically circling the bloom of a Chemex, pouring latte art that makes us smile, or pulling a shot that’ll have our eyes roll back in our head—this goes out to all those who love coffee so much, they’ve made a career out of serving the best cup they can.
Good luck to everyone registering for the United States Barista Championship in the new year, and for everyone else, remember to tip! Cheers!
Based on requests from interested readers, I’ve decided to design a few products for fans who want to proudly display their love of coffee (and this lovely blog). However, I only want to make merch if the products offered are of good quality and the best way to do that is with a pre-order. This way we only order what we need, without any excess merchandise floating around. You can also take pride in knowing you were an early supporter—owning part of an original limited edition run.

I won’t “accept” any of the PayPal payments until we reach the minimum order for the specified item. If we haven’t met the minimum number by June 5th, I’ll refund any money that’s been paid…or I’ll try again at a later date with Kickstarter.
